The Little Sister

Winner of the Queer Palm at Cannes, Hafsia Herzi’s tender drama, adapted from Fatima Daas’s semi-autofictional novel The Last One, introduces us to Fatima (Cannes Best Actress winner, Nadia Melliti): a 17-year-old French-Algerian student navigating the contradictions of loyalty, faith, and awakening desire. Straddling suburban upbringing and the liberation of Parisian student life, Fatima grapples with her attraction to women while honouring the traditions of her devout Muslim family.

“The movie crackles with loose, lived-in vitality and moment-to-moment authenticity.” – The Hollywood Reporter
