PERMISSION – Contemporary Dance Theatre Workshop

DOWNPOUR co.

'Permission to Move' invites you into an inclusive contemporary dance workshop led by Bonnie Williams and Emma Stokes, the creative force behind DOWNPOUR co. Inspired by their latest work in development, PERMISSION., this workshop explores movement as a way to connect, create, and express who we are.

Together, we'll dive into contemporary dance, improvisation, composition, and playful creative tasks that encourage curiosity, connection, and storytelling through the body. Explore how movement can communicate joy, intimacy, belonging, pleasure, and the freedom to take up space.

Designed for all bodies, identities, and experience levels, this welcoming workshop celebrates that there is no right or wrong way to move. Whether you're a professional performer, an emerging artist, a curious mover, or someone who's always wanted to try contemporary dance, you'll be encouraged to discover your own creative voice in a supportive, sensory-friendly, and accessible environment.

Come move, connect, create, and experience the collaborative process behind PERMISSION.

About the presenter: DOWNPOUR co.

DOWNPOUR co. exists to create the work we do not see.

We are here to Be Visible. Be heard. Make noise. Take. Up. Space!

Born from the fringes, we emerge to disrupt. Unraveling stereotypes, exploring human connections, creating space for stories to unfold.

Proudly disabled-led, Adelaide-based independent dance theatre company, unapologetically centering and celebrating disabled, queer, and neurodivergent voices and stories.
Merging cabaret, dance, and immersive theatre, we dive into the depths of human joy, desire, connection and pleasure.
Image Description: A performer in a black lace dress stands beneath dramatic blue, pink and yellow stage lighting. Their hair sweeps through the air as they extend one arm, creating a powerful sense of movement. Coloured haze and a dark backdrop evoke an intimate, theatrical atmosphere.

Feast Festival acknowledges that we gather, create and celebrate on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people.
We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and recognise First Nations peoples as the original storytellers, artists and custodians of this land.
We honour and respect queer First Nations communities, including Sistagirls and Brothaboys, and recognise the enduring connection between culture, identity, community and Country.
Sovereignty was never ceded. Always was, always will be Aboriginal Land.
