Feast Festival Program Cover Art 2026
The 2026 Feast Festival program cover design is a digital illustration in portrait orientation, by South Australian artist Eddie Normington.
A small yellow figure, with a blank white circular face and yellow peaks on their head like the points of a star, stands atop the dark surface of a planet, with arms outstretched. From their tiny red heart emerges rippling translucent ribbons of pink, curling out to either side of their body.
In the vast sky above the figure, large translucent shapes emanate above them, overlapping inside in a pale blue flame; some stretched and jagged like diamonds or lightning bolts, others like stars, dancing in dusky pink, lime green, yellow and orange.
The sky itself is deep navy blue with soft teal patterns scattered over its surface, swirling in parallel arched lines and grooves, like an aurora peeking through clouds. Smaller pale sketchy stars twinkle in the distance around the outer edges.
The planet on which the figure stands is a simple curved arch, rendered in black save for some jagged river-like pools reflecting the dark green and teal sky-scape above.

The Front Cover Artist
Eddie Normington
They/ Them
Eddie Normington is an interdisciplinary artist living and making on Kaurna land in SA. They are inspired by all things colourful, sparkly, and love to explore queer concepts, theory, and lived internal experiences through their work. Whether the works are illustration, animation, or mixed media, Eddie aims to make the internal feelings externalised for others to look at and connect with.
Being selected for the opportunity to illustrate the cover work for the Feast with the theme of “joy” felt serendipitous. What both the festival and this specific theming represents aligns with Eddie’s approach of creating work that leaves people feeling positively, or providing insights into queer living for those outside of the community that are not centred or defined by suffering. The cover itself depicts the feeling of celebratory happiness and the beauty of taking up space as queer folk, as it can be a tangible force shared with each other within the community and throughout this festival.
Eddie won the Helpmann Academy People’s Choice Award (2024) for their Honours interactive illustrative work Affirmation Avatars from their Visualising Gender Euphoria series. Their work has also been shown in various exhibitions around Australia such as their solo exhibition Growing a Body with the Guildhouse (2025), two Squish Squash Fringe Festival exhibitions (2025-2026), and more. Outside of their regular practice you can find them working hard as a co-founding member of the Squish Squash volunteer team, helping to create and support a thriving illustration and animation community here in Australia.

These vibrant works invite you to consider and reflect on how your identity and/or lived experiences can enhance your life and day-to-day activities. From exploring the warm, fuzzy feelings of hosting a good house party with your chosen family, to trying drag makeup for the first time; this collection of works aims to connect and prompt reflection on your own happy moments.
